Illinois Rural Water Association Designates Village of German Valley as "Water System of the Year”

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025 Illinois Rural Water Association, the state’s largest rural utility association, selected the Village of German Valley as its "Water System of The Year" at the 43rd Annual Technical Conference in Effingham, Illinois.

The Illinois Rural Water Association’s "Water System of the Year" award is given to a system dedicated to managing their water system to the highest of standards. The winner of this award must meet the strictest industry standards in appearance, record keeping, compliance and consistency of operations. "This accurately describes the Village of German Valley" said Don Craig, Executive Director of the Illinois Rural Water Association. "The Village of German Valley has met or exceeded all compliance standards and is managed, maintained and operated to the highest of industry standards”.

The Illinois Rural Water Association is a private, not-for-profit association of small community water and wastewater system members; and is dedicated to onsite training and technical assistance to those individuals who work in the water and wastewater industry, as well as the system administrators.
