A Town with Tradition and Pride

German Valley takes pride in its heritage, celebrated through institutions like the German Valley Historical Society Museum, where visitors can step back in time and even enjoy historical trolley rides during special events. The town is home to the German American State Bank, a cornerstone of our local economy, and the German Valley Grade School, part of the Forrestville Valley School District, where young minds are nurtured.

Community and Recreation

For outdoor lovers, Ben Miller Park, named after a former German Valley mayor, offers a beautiful space for families to gather, play, and relax. Residents also enjoy the convenience of a local restaurant and bar, while the German Valley Fire Protection District, Police, food pantry, and Lions Club ensure the well-being of our community. Our town is also home to the German Valley Golden Eagles 4-H Club, encouraging youth to engage in agriculture, leadership, and service.

Just outside of town, pet owners have access to New Hope Veterinary Clinic, offering excellent care for their animals. German Valley is also home to three local churches, where faith and fellowship remain at the heart of our community.

German Valley Days – A Celebration for All
July 18-20, 2025

One of the highlights of the year is German Valley Days, an annual festival that brings people together for fun, entertainment, and tradition. The event features:

  • A parade down Church Street

  • Family-friendly activities for kids and adults alike

  • Historical trolley rides hosted by the German Valley Museum

  • An award for German Valley’s Most Valuable Person

  • Live entertainment and delicious food

  • Spectacular Saturday night fireworks to close out the celebration

Recently, German Valley has received the prestigious honor of: 2025's Best Drinking Water System in the State of Illinois awarded by the Illinois Rural Water Association. This is a reflection of our commitment to quality and excellence in our community.
