Open Records (FOIA)
In Illinois, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 ILCS 140) ensures public access to government records, requiring public bodies to make records available for inspection or copying upon written request.
Open Records (FOIA) provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. Certain types of records are exempt from disclosure under the FOIA, such as those that would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. The Village of German Valley supports a transparency within our local government. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us by email or phone.
Most FOIA responses are provided within 5 business days after receipt of the request, with potential extensions under certain circumstances.
